Speaker 1 (00:00):
So clean living, right? Clean beauty. Clean eating. Clean cleaning products. It’s everywhere. But what’s it really about? Is it just marketing or is it something more? You send us some stuff from a company, good Salt Life, and they seem to be taking it seriously. This whole clean living thing.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Yeah, it’s definitely a thing. Now, this whole transparency thing, people want to know what’s in their stuff, where it comes from, how it’s made. It’s forcing companies to think differently. Can’t just slap a label on it anymore.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
For sure. Good. Salt Life seems to get that.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
They’ve
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Got this whole document, clean living, laying out their philosophy. Six key principles.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Smart. They’re defining clean on their own terms, trying to build trust. People are wary of the buzzwords now.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
Totally. And it’s refreshing to see them actually defining it, not just throwing it around. So principle one, clean ingredients, prioritizing health and safety seems kind of obvious, but they actually go deeper than just natural ingredients. They’re talking about the whole production process.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah. That’s a more holistic view, right? Not just the product itself, but the whole impact
Speaker 1 (01:05):
And get this, they actually admit they aren’t perfect. They say, are we a hundred percent there yet? Not quite. We’re a growing company constantly striving to improve. Most companies won’t admit that. Will they? Makes you wonder if it’s real or just clever marketing though, right?
Speaker 2 (01:20):
It’s a trend for sure. Companies realizing that trying to hide flaws can backfire. Being open can build trust, even if it means saying, Hey, we’re not perfect,
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Like they’re on the journey with you. Okay. Principle two, sustainability. Reducing our footprint, responsible sourcing, waste reduction, eco-friendly packaging. The usual suspects.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Sustainability is huge right now, especially for younger generations, right? It’s a challenge though for companies. Supply chains could be so complex.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Good. Salt Life actually says that though. They say we’re constantly evaluating our supply chains to reduce our environmental impact. They’re trying at least,
Speaker 2 (01:57):
And that’s what matters. Consumers are catching on. They want to see action, not just words.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Okay, so ingredients, footprint. Now it gets interesting. Principle three, holistic health and wellness. Supporting balanced living. They’re linking their products to a whole lifestyle now,
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Which makes sense, right? People want solutions for their whole lives, not just one little thing.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
They talk about a disinfectant that’s tough on germs, but gentle on people. No harsh chemicals. Have you noticed that people are moving away from the super strong cleaning products?
Speaker 2 (02:27):
Absolutely. The awareness of chemicals, especially in homes with kids. It’s definitely growing.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
Good. Salt life’s tapping into that for sure. But they also say that clean is about more than just products. A balanced life isn’t just about what you clean with, right? Okay. And then principle four, ethical practices, doing business the right way. What does that even mean for cleaning products? I had never thought about it.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
It’s often overlooked. Yeah, but it’s huge. Fair labor, responsible sourcing, transparency, making sure the products we use actually reflect our values.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
They say they’re committed to a transparent supply chain. Isn’t that super hard to do though? Especially globally?
Speaker 2 (03:05):
It’s a challenge, no doubt. But it’s becoming more and more important to people. They want to know their money’s going to a good place. Companies are realizing that their practices matter as much as their products now.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
And they even talk about treating their employees well, fairly, it’s one thing to say ethical sourcing, but to think about everyone in the company, that’s not that common.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
It does seem like they’re really trying to live it, not just talk about it. They get that clean living. It’s bigger than just the stuff you buy. It’s how you do business, the whole thing.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Right? Okay, next principle. Then education and empowerment. Helping you make better choices. So now they’re teachers.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
Well, they want to be a resource, not just a company, right?
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Educate people. Give them the info to choose. Well, it’s smart.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
Yeah. They talk about their blogs, social media, all that. Sharing Pips advice. But isn’t that just like marketing dressed up as education?
Speaker 2 (03:59):
It can be tricky. Good content marketing. It’s valuable, right? It gives you actual information. It helps you make decisions, but it can easily become a sales pitch if they’re serious. It has to be objective. Not just pushing their stuff.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Finding that balance, right? Okay, last one. This principle is a mouthful. A journey, not a destination. Working toward perfection. I kind of like that though.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
It’s honest, right? Clean living. It’s not a checklist you tick off. It’s ongoing. Keep learning, keep getting better.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Totally. We’re in this together, not we’re already perfect by our stuff, but how do we really know if they’re doing all this saying it is one thing, but
Speaker 2 (04:37):
That’s always the question, isn’t it? Got to look past the marketing. They talk about transparency, right? Well, let’s see it.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Okay, time to be detectives first. Stop the website. Ingredients lists, sustainability reports. Are they hiding it or is it easy to find
Speaker 2 (04:50):
And certifications? That’s important. Did some third party actually check their claims? Those certifications? They mean something. Anyone can say they’re whatever.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
True. True. Oh, and what about reviews? People who actually use their stuff, what are they saying?
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Oh, absolutely. Reviews. Social media. Even those websites for ethical consumers. See what people are saying good and bad. Are they as good as they say they are?
Speaker 1 (05:15):
We could even go full on investigation mode. Look at those industry watchdog groups, right?
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Those groups like the EWG consumer reports, they do the real digging. They can cut through the bs, see what they say about good salt life. That’d be interesting.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
This is getting serious, but it matters, right? We’re talking about spending money here supporting companies.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
Totally. You want to put your money where your values are. Got to do the homework. Sometimes it’s not about being perfect, it’s about honesty. Companies actually trying to do better.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
Okay, so we’ve got their principles, ways to check if they’re for real, but what does this all mean for the average person trying to live clean and all that?
Speaker 2 (05:53):
It’s about being smart. Don’t just believe what you see. Ask questions, clean, sustainable, all that. It can mean anything. Look for proof
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Like anything else. If it sounds too good to be true,
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Probably is. And remember, nobody’s perfect. Even companies look for the effort, the honesty, the willingness to talk about it.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
And we have power too, right? Our choices matter
Speaker 2 (06:16):
More than we realize. We support the companies we believe in. It makes a difference.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
Okay, so lots to think about from good salt life, their whole philosophy. What are you hoping our listener takes away from all this?
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Exactly. Be your own detective, right? We’ve given you the clues. Now go solve the case.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
It’s kind of cool when you think about it. We’re not just along for the ride. We can actually demand better our choices have power.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
It all comes back to that, doesn’t it? Like you were saying, clean living. It’s not just about one company’s product. It’s bigger than that
Speaker 1 (06:46):
For sure. It’s how we live, how we think about our impact on each other on the planet. It can feel overwhelming though, right? All these choices, this information,
Speaker 2 (06:56):
Totally. Where do you even start
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Small. Don’t overthink it. Just ask a question. Do a little digging and don’t be afraid to speak up if something doesn’t seem right. So much good stuff in this deep dive. We unpacked good salt life, their whole philosophy. What do you hope our listener is walking away with today?
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Don’t just take their word for it or any companies for that matter. Look for the proof. Clean, sustainable. Those words get thrown around a lot. Dig a little deeper. See if they hold up
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Like that saying, right? If it sounds too good to be true.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
Yeah. Got to be careful and remember, no company’s perfect. It’s about progress, not perfection. Look for that honesty, that willingness to be open about the process, the good and the bad.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
And we’re not powerless in this. That’s what’s so important,
Speaker 2 (07:41):
Right? Our choices where we spend our money, that sends a message. We support the companies doing it, right? It matters.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
Love it. Well, that’s another deep dive in the books. Good Salt Life, clean Living, lots to think about. Thanks for breaking it down with me.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
My pleasure. Always good to chat about this stuff.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
And to our listeners, thanks for exploring with us. Keep asking those questions. Do your research. Be the clean living detective in your own life. Until next time.
